Wedding!

There Shall Be Showers Of Blessings!
Showers Of Blessings We Need.
Mercy Drops Round Us Are Falling!
But For The Showers We Plead.

Thus sang the congregation on Friday, the 3rd of December 2010, at St John’s Church, a quaint little church, at One town Area, Vizag. The occasion was the wedding of Arati and Sushil, the son of our dear friend, Ravishankar and the late, cheerful and charming, Malathi.

After a hearty lunch, friends and family, all drove down to the Church for the wedding service at 5 pm. Ravi, the groom’s father, was a picture of youthful charm, himself. Several of his college friends from REC Trichy were present and most of them were known to us too! So it was a meeting of friends, renewing old ties and refreshing memories unforgotten!

The groom and his best man arrived in a decked car and there you can see me, flanked by these handsome hulks! It was a colorful and friendly gathering. The bride had the privilege of keeping the groom waiting and she took her own sweet time! Soon a conclave of priests marched in and the solemn service began with the arrival of the bride, on the arm of her father.

The occasion was marked by a blend of modernity and tradition, of faith and cultures, the tying of the sacred thali (mangalsutra) followed by the exchange of the wedding rings and vows! The priests addressed the congregation and we joined in the prayer, to bless the couple.

A grand reception was held at the Waltair Park Auditorium at Siripuram, where we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner. The evening ended memorably, with commiserations and frantic invitations and the hurried exchange of phone numbers and mail ids!
